After polling my Facebook friends, I learned quite quickly – most of us are changing up our 2020 Thanksgiving plans. And many of my friends are cooking Thanksgiving for the first time ever. You’ve got this. Really.
There are many ways to cook a turkey, and I’ve tried them all, with varying results. We’ve roasted, grilled, fried and smoked our Thanksgiving birds. But, when it comes down to it, I’ll do it this same way every time. Maple Spiced Grilled Turkey Breasts forevah.
If you’re a traditionalist, this isn’t your recipe. But, if you’ve always wished your Thanksgiving turkey tasted a little bit more like, well, chicken, then this Maple Spiced Grilled Turkey Breast recipe is for you.
In fact, I think it’s for everyone hosting a smaller Thanksgiving celebration this year. Not only will you have the perfect amount of turkey, but you clear out your oven space and get to avoid the mess of carving a big ol’ turkey.
Tip to Cooking a Perfect Maple Spiced Grilled Turkey Breast
Don’t skimp on the seasonings in your spice blend or the half hour of marinating. This is where the flavor gets infused in the meat.
Be sure to allow all excess marinade before placing your meat on the oiled grates. You don’t want the maple syrup to burn your turkey breasts.
Grill marks make this Maple Spiced Grilled Turkey Breast feel holiday “special.” Cook the meat for 5 minutes over high heat, then rotate it 45 degrees for another few minutes before flipping. Repeat the process on the other side.
Don’t forget the garnish! I’ve used herbs, pomegranate and oranges to dress up the plate. But, you could easily use mixed greens, sliced apples or pears (spritzed with lemon juice so they don’t brown), or plate the turkey on top of stuffing.
