Do you have a budding little fire fighter at home?
A fireman party theme not only looks amazing but it is a LOT of fun for all little kids.
My son requested a fireman party theme for his 4th birthday. I knew that this party would be one full of bright colors, lots of fun games and something that all the kids could enjoy.
He decided to dress up as a little fireman for some added fun.
Use the following easy party ideas to create your own fun fireman birthday party that you know the kids will love!
Fireman Themed Party Decorations
The party decor always sets the scene for a themed birthday party and it is very easy to incorporate firefighter decorations.
One option is to purchase a full party package or you can create the decorations yourself.
A great way to decorate the whole party is to have lots of bright colors. I chose to use red, orange and yellow. A black tablecloth was used for framing.
An easy way to create instant decor is to create a party backdrop.
To ensure that the party backdrop is a focal point, it is recommended to place it in a prominent place such as behind the food table.
The party backdrop is also the perfect opportunity to define the color scheme that will be used throughout the party.
Backdrops don’t need to be expensive or difficult to make. This party backdrop is simply made with plastic tablecloths.
It’s easy to create and can be used for any party theme by simply changing the colors.
At the back of the party table I wrapped some cereal box’s in brown paper and drew some black windows on them. Then some orange and red tissue paper was used to create flames which were then placed on various parts of the box’s. This created burning buildings.
At the bottom of the buildings I placed some toy fire trucks which instantly created the fireman party feel.
For fun, I added some fire extinguishers and red fire hydrants which were drink bottles. They looked great for the party and were a practical item for afterwards. They would also have made awesome party favors!
Other decorations consisted of a fire fighter party printable set which contained water bottle labels, candy bar wrappers, food labels and cupcake toppers.
To finish off the decoration and provide an extra pop of color I added red, orange and yellow balloons.
The decor was kept simple but effective.
There are many firefighter party supplies available but I like to use colors to create the scene with the added addition of a few elements such as the toy fire trucks and red fire hydrants.
Fireman Party Food Ideas
Creating a themed birthday party food table is always a lot of fun. It’s a great opportunity to get a little creative and really bring the theme to life.
A fireman party theme has LOTS of fun food options that can easily be incorporated onto the food or dessert table.
At the centre of the food table, I always place the birthday cake. This is a stand out piece that really sets the scene of the entire table.
This birthday cake was simple, but it looked very effective.
The base of the chocolate cake was covered with flames and a toy fire engine was placed on the top of the cake.
This was a cheaper option than having a fondant firetruck created.
The best part about using toys on cakes is that the kids can play with them after the party too. So not only does it make it cheaper, but it’s more practical.
Win win!
It only takes a few themed food items to make a massive impact.
One of the themed foods created that I absolutely loved was the fire cupcakes.
These cupcakes were relatively simple to make, but look striking on the food table. They also complimented the birthday cake perfectly.
Cookies are also simple to make for a kids party and these flame cookies were incredibly popular.
Again they gave a pop of color and really added to the overall effect whilst also being super easy to make.
Another food item that I always prepare for kids parties are marshmallow pops.
They look like cake pops, but are so much easier to make and the kids absolutely love them.
To look like fireballs the marshmallow pops were created bright red with yellow sprinkles.
Another way to easily theme the food is to simply use color.
For this party I created a plate of fresh fruit, red and blue jello and candy.
Other party food included:
- Donuts
- Sandwiches
- Popcorn and crackers
- Long stick cookies to represent firehouse poles
Fireman Party Game Ideas
A fireman party is the perfect theme if holding a party in the middle of summer! My son’s birthday was a scorching hot day so we used lots of water games to keep the kids cool.
Specific fireman games included:
- Water Over The Head Game: The children were split into teams and made to stand in a line behind one other. Each child was given a large cup, with the child at the front given a cup full of water. The children had to pour the water from their cup, over their head into the cup behind them. The game ended when the child at the back ran to the front of the line with their cup filled with water.
- Be a Little Firefighter: The children were all given a filled water pistol. This was a simple game to keep cool. The children had fun running around squirting each other with their water pistols whilst wearing a fire hat. The kids looked like adorable little fire fighters whilst playing this game.
- Move The Water: The children were split into teams. Each team was given two buckets. One bucket was filled with water and the other was empty. The empty bucket was placed at the opposite end of the garden to where they were standing whilst the full bucket was placed in front of their team at the start line. Each child was given a large cup. The aim of the game was that the children had to scoop their cup in the bucket of water, run to the empty bucket and empty their cup. The children ran one at a time as a brave firefighter moving the water. The first team to move all their water to the empty bucket was the winner.
There are many party games for kids which are perfect for parties.
There are also a lot of water gun games which would be great to incorporate into a fireman party. Just make sure the kids don’t mind getting wet!
Fireman Party Favors
It is very common to hand out party favors to party guests before they go home.
Instead of handing out a party favor bag, the favors were included as a game at the party.
The kids were all given an empty bag, a treasure map and they wore their fireman hats.
The map consisted of 6 fireman pictures and an order which they had to locate them. In a group the kids followed the map and at each picture they collected a little favor to add to their bag.
The kids absolutely loved this trail and made the favor bag a lot of fun.
There are a lot of different fireman party favors that can be given out. Some fun ideas include:
- Fireman stickers or tattoos
- Fire engine toy trucks
- Fire extinguisher skirt toys
- Fireman wrist bands
- Fireman’s hat
This fireman party was a lot of fun and enjoyed by all the little guests in attendance.
The themed decorations were easy to coordinate, the food was simple but delicious and the kids enjoyed all the party games.
Incorporate some of these fireman birthday party ideas into your next amazing party.
This is the kind of party that the kids are going to love.
