Cuddle Bat Ragdoll Lovey · Amigurumi Crochet Pattern

Posted by admin on

I've been on a roll here! Within the last few months, I've designed a variety of ragdoll loveys, including a Bunny, an Elephant, and a Dragon!  This time, I crocheted a lesser-seen animal in amigurumi art... a BAT!

Links:

The Cuddle Bat is a ragdoll lovey that has a flat body, mimicking a security blanket for babies, toddlers, and young children.  It has two fluffy, furry cat-shaped ears... Zig-zag shaped set of wings, tiny claws on both hands and feet, and a two-toned color block body.

In my attempt to design this security blanket to require as little sewing as possible, I made the body, legs, and toes all in one piece.  The wings are also done in one piece.  The arms and finger claws are in one piece as well.

Yarn Used

This adorable animal design is easy and works up quickly with super bulky yarn and a large, 5mm hook.  It looks great with blanket yarn, polyester, chenille, or velvet yarn, though you can use other types of fibers too!  The sample was created with Hobbii's Honey Bunny Yarn, perfect for a soft and cuddly toy.

If you'd like, another good substitute is Baby Snuggle Yarn, which I do use interchangeably with the Honey Bunny!  They are both so similar in texture and feel. Check out my Baby Snuggle Yarn Review for more information about that yarn!

Customizing & Gifting

Customization is easy with this pattern.  You can use different yarn colors, and the design itself is unisex and gender neutral, suitable for both boys and girls.  Kids will adore snuggling up to this sweet doll!

It makes an eye-catching craft fair product, as well as a birthday gift, holiday gift, baby shower gift for expecting moms, or for newborn and infant children.

Size

Its size is quite standard for a lovey, measuring approximately 15 inches (38 cm) in height from head to toe.  Its wingspan is 15 inches (38 cm) across.

Level

The level for this project is suitable for a familiar beginner or a familiar beginner or intermediate crocheter, as it involves familiarity with the stitches below, changing yarn colors, attaching yarn, and sewing parts together.
