Adjectives Scavenger Hunt Activity

Posted by admin on

I had been working on this free, printable Adjectives Scavenger Hunt activity over the course of a few days and had left a printed copy on our dining table. When our third grader arrived home from school she noticed it there and asked if she could complete it, pretty, pretty please?! What can I say, she’s a bit of a word nerd…which isn’t all that unusual in our family!

It became a fun challenge that involved the whole family – finding fun (and often funny) descriptive words to fill each box included in the hunt. The printable activity challenges kids to find adjectives for each of the letters of the alphabet.

Sidenote: If you’re like us, a family or class of word nerds and bookworms, be sure to also check out our Word Power! Brain Activating Word Games, Alphabet Books That Teach More Than ABC and Word Study Educational Websites.

For school class groups, this would make a great grammar challenge to complete in pairs.

Plus, pairing the adjectives scavenger hunt with a pile of great picture books makes this an awesome tool for expanding learning about character traits, or elements of story setting.

Older students may prefer to work individually, finding adjectives to complete the challenge with the chapter book or novel they are currently reading, or the current class text.
