Answer:
The depth of the part that hangs over the door is 1-1/2 inches, and sticks out to 5-3/4 inches (that includes the circular thing at the end). I think they would be a great idea to take on trips!

I love these. They extend about five or six inches and are heavy enough to handle my husband's work clothes. I use them in the laundry room and they work great. I don't see why they won't work for your trips.

Not if you screw it in like I did. There is a hole to keep the holder from moving around.

No, but you may want to use a small strip of material to cover the door then place the hook on the material. I use thin wool material, something I have available in my closet.

If you are careful in placing it and don't try to slide it to move it - it shouldn't scratch. I wasn't careful and one did scratch the paint on my door.

Answer:
I was trying to measure, but it was kind of hard. They are an 1/8 inch or less. One of the tightest doors has it slide against the wood a little, but not scraping. I still have no problem with the door closing. These are tough. I bought one and liked it so much I bought one or two more later. I was going through my wa… see more

The part is thin enough to fit your door.

This one is thinner (yet stronger) than several I had purchased previously. Think a slim jim like locksmiths use to open your car door. (and don't ask me how I know that!). Hope this helps.

Question:
Answer:
I cleaned out a walkin closet and hung most everything on two. I crammed stuff and even hung some things off of other hangers, it is tough and could probably hold anything!

Not sure about the pounds but I hang our coats and jeans on it, so it's sturdy. I use it every day in my laundry room . it was a good buy for me.

Well I had eight ankle length skirts on a skirt rack along with a couple of blouses, it held with no problem. I bet it could hold 2-3 suits.

I use it for socks..so I don't have to put them in the dryer after washing. It holds fifteen pair hung over hangers easily

I bought this because I have had plastic ones break with just a few coats on them. This metal one holds several men's winter coats without so much as a flex. That is probably about 30 - 40 pounds...
