Dressing Room | Spring Styles at a Steal

Posted by admin on

Hi friends!  Here’s to May 1st! Did we think it would never arrive?!  I don’t think we’ll ever forget April 2020- there’s truly been nothing like it in our lifetime.  I wonder how our kids will remember it??  And we’re not out of the woods yet, but I feel like I can see some light peeking through.  It’s a good feeling!  Are you with me?

Some restaurants in Houston will start opening at 25% capacity today, and I’m sure so many people are thankful to get back to work.  Our gyms, hair salons, movie theaters, sports, and so many more things are still closed, but there will be a Phase 2 opening in a few weeks if this Phase 1 goes well.

I’m praying it does.  I still haven’t gotten to hang out with any of my friends and neither have the kids.  If there’s one thing this has taught us, it’s how important our social connections are!  And how important our hair colorists are! Ha!

I’m also so excited to tell you that with your generous donations, we raised a total of $2445We were able to send another 80 meals to healthcare workers and staff at Ben Taub Hospital in Houston this week!  What a blessing!  I can’t imagine what it must be like to be on the frontlines of this pandemic, risking your own life to care for others.  They really are Frontline Heros! #frontlineheroeshouston

As a THANK YOU for reading and subscribing to my blog, every month this year, I’m giving away EVERYTHING in my monthly Loves.  If you’re not subscribed, you can sign up here, and I will pick a winner at random and announce at the end of the month!

The winner of my April Loves is Meghan in New Jersey!

March Loves Erin, who subscribed to my blog in 2012!

I enjoy seeing what y’all love each week and here’s your Top 5!

1. My new razor arrived this week, which reminded me how much I like it!  It gives a super smooth shave, the handle is easy to hold, it’s pretty! and the magnetic shower holder is genius!  I also love the convenience of having it delivered to my door! ($9 starter kit).

2. I’m so glad my Self Tanning Routine was helpful, but I don’t use regular self tanner on my face.  Instead, I use these drops (just a few before bed) and wake up with a “sunkissed” glow on my face!  And no breakouts! It’s pricey but worth it!

3. Y’all loved the geometric rug I have in my back patio.  I’ve had ours for almost a year and they’re holding up great! (was $70, now $56)

4.  My new “baby feet” are crazy for these slide sandals – they have so much cushion and support.  Plus, I like the sporty/boho style that goes with everything. (was $99, now $59)

5.  I feel like we’re all taking better care of our skin lately.  If you haven’t tried this cleansing balm yet, I highly recommend it!  It’s what I’ve been using twice a day for years and my skin feels clean, yet hydrated after.  Everything is on sale 15% off!

Did you catch my latest Amazon posts? I did a Cute & Comfy round-up and a Spring Style post recently.

1.   If you want a change from your skinnies, try these Girlfriend Jeans. I’m not mad about the relaxed fit and the crop length lets you show some ankle. Fits TTS, but they were a bit long on me.

2.  I’m not surprised this Striped Tunic made the Top 2, it’s a soft, stretchy knit with a 3/4 sleeve. Fits TTS and if you’re short like me, you can wear it with leggings.

3.  The classic v-neck tee was also a hit!  I bought one in 3 colors!  Fitted style, size up if you want it more relaxed.

4.  You guys, I just got online late night and bought a . . . TREADMILL!  It’s a petite, lightweight one that I can easily fold up and hide away when not in use, but this tie dye tank tank will sure come in handy for it!

5.  I felt so pretty in this knit maxi dress.  It’s lightweight with a ribbed texture, and I can wear it with flats!

6.  I’m hoping that all of our nails are looking much better with that magic gel coat!  See my at-home manicure tips here.  Now that I haven’t gotten shellac in so long, I can see the line across my nails where the new, strong growth is, and the thin, older nails!

Now onto today’s new dressing room post!  You’ll notice how long my hair has grown out and how badly I’m in need of a color appointment- but oh well!  It’s gonna be a few more weeks at least.  I tried parting my hair to the side for a change, but it never wants to stay to that side!

For Size Reference: I’m a shorty (5’1) and petite, weighing about 110.  I typically wear size 0p/25 jeans, XS or XSP in tops and dresses.

Who’s ready for white jeans?! I love this pair because they are super opaque and fit like a glove.  They’re thick enough to give you a slim look, not so thin that all our lumps and bumps show.  They have a cute raw edge hem, which also makes them easy to cut if you want them shorter.

Jeans Fit: I’m wearing a Size 0

I’ve been buying these basic scoop neck tank tops for years.  They are great quality and the fit is just right.  You’ll get lots of use out of them with wearing them alone in Spring and Summer and layering them under sweaters and cardigans in the Fall and Winter.

Tank Fit: I’m wearing an XS. The back is a slight racerback style, so you may want to wear this bra with it.

I’m happily brining out the boyfriend jean shorts again.  These have been worn about 5 million times and feel like an old friend by now!

Our temperatures are creeping into the upper 80s and the humidity is coming back, so I’ve been reaching for shorts often.  I found two awesome pair that aren’t jean shorts!

Summer Outfit, Nordstrom, Embroidered Peplum Top, Linen Shorts, Wedges

These surf shorts by Rip Curl have an easy to pull on elastic waist with a shoestring tie. They’re made with a crinkly no-fuss cotton that easily works over a swimsuit.

It looks like the green pair sold out, but they’re still available in black.

The longer (3-inch inseam) pair by Caslon are a closet staple.  They’re made with a breathable linen fabric and have an elastic waist and side/back pockets.

I guess I’ve been in joggers too long because I love putting on jeans lately!  These are my trusty Kut from the Kloth high rise skinny jeans.  I like them because they are so flattering with just a touch of whiskering at the hips.

Jeans Fit : I’m wearing size 00 and cut the hem since they were too long

Spring Outfit, Nordstrom, Puff Sleeve Top, Dark Denim Jeans, Gold Belt

Puff Sleeve Top

How darling is this top?! It’s definitely an upgrade from your basic tee with the jersey stretch material and puffed sleeves.  The sheer part and dotted texture dresses it up and makes it perfect for work or play.

I like the top just as much in the white – it’s very light and Springy! If you have a skirt in your closet, try pairing it with this top, I bet it would look great!

A peplum top is always a good idea because of the way it draws you in at the waist to accentuate your figure.  I like the boho feel of this one with the lightweight fabric and crocheted ribbons.  It’s cinched closed at the chest to keep from falling open.

Floral Top (on sale $13) Jeans (reg $89, now $53)Nude Heels

If you like florals, I bet you’ll like this top.  It’s a tunic style, but still very comfortable.  I like the 3/4 length sleeves and easy fit.

A big YES to this top!  And I don’t normally like yellow on myself, but this one is so pretty!  And if you don’t enjoy yellow, it also comes in navy. The petite button front is darling as are the ruffled sleeves.  The pattern is a small geometric design that doesn’t overwhelm. It’s a crepe material that you can machine wash, but lay flat to dry.

I wanted to try these FRAME jeans while they were on sale and do like how they felt on.  They have a good bit of stretch and a comfortable, high rise.

Jeans Fit: These jeans run big, so I’d size down- their size chart is accurate.  I’m wearing a 25- which is a 0-2, so I should have gotten a 0 or 00, I’m normally 0P.  Also, they are way too long (they looked ankle length on the model) so I cuffed them under in this pic.

Summer Outfit, Nordstrom, Vince Camuto Sleeveless Blouse, Frame Denim Jeans, White/Gold Belt

This type of classic sleeveless blouse is what I always wore to the office during the summer months.  It still looks polished, but the sleeveless arms kept me cool if I was out running to meetings.  On the other hand, it also works well with jeans for a more casual look.  I love the bright red with tiny triangles, but it comes in more colors.

Top Fit: I’m wearing an XXS

Here’s a better look at the sandals.  I like the sleek open toe design that comes with an espadrille style block heel. They are that perfect mix of strappy heel and espadrille in one shoe.

Are you still living in joggers?? I found a pair that’s a step up because they are a cool linen fabric.  But, they’re also a fun style because they have a ribbed cuff, making them easy to dress up or down.  They come in 5 neutral colors that mix and match well with the tops in your closet.

I love the sweet and spicy mix in this dress!  The yellow/blue/orange floral pattern is so very Spring, yet the plunging neckline and ruched middle are so sassy!  This would be a fun dress to go to a party in!

Dress Fit: Run small, I’m wearing an XS and could barely zip up the back all the way!

Spring and Summer Outfit, Off the Shoulder Jumpsuit

Whyyyyy am I so short?!  This jumpsuit felt as comfy as pajamas with the silky soft material.  The elastic at the shoulders feels like it will stay put and I love that it has slim pockets.
